Rampur is a former princely capital on the Hindustan Tibet Road (NH 22), about 120 km from Shimla. At 900 m elevation, it's a practical break between Shimla and Kinnaur, not a destination. The old palace and riverside bazaar fill a few hours; most travellers use it as a lunch or sleep stop.
