PACA runs from the Rhône to the Italian border and from the sea up into the Alps — Marseille to Nice is about 2 h 30 by train, Avignon to Nice about 4 h. Interior towns (Avignon, Arles, Aix) suit spring and autumn; the Riviera carries the winter.
