Pozzallo
Go for 1–2 nights only if you want a Blue Flag beach or the Malta ferry; otherwise sleep in Ragusa or Modica and visit as a half-day.
Pozzallo is a small port town on Sicily's south-east coast, 3 km from the ferry terminal to Valletta and about 30 km from Ragusa. Two beaches hold Blue Flag status and the old centre is compact, but there is little to see beyond the tower, two churches and the seafront. Most travellers use it as a ferry port or a beach base for the baroque towns, not as a destination in itself.

Get around
The centre is small enough to walk: Piazza della Rimembranza to the station is about 10 minutes, and the beaches are 5–15 minutes on foot. Taxis wait at the bus stop and meet ferries and trains. Buses (AST) and six regional trains a day link Ragusa, Modica, Syracuse and Gela, but trains do not run on Sunday and Sunday buses are infrequent.
