Porto is the second city on Portugal's main rail line. From Lisbon, the Alfa Pendular covers the route in about 2h50–3h20; from Braga it is under an hour, and from Coimbra about an hour. São Bento station drops you in the middle of the old town, which is why many weekenders never need a taxi.
