Portishead is a small coastal town on the Bristol Channel, about 35 minutes by bus from Bristol and with no railway station of its own. Its draw is the marina, the open-air pool, the Lake Grounds and the flat cycle path along the Avon. Most travellers see it in half a day or use it as a quiet, cheaper bed for Bristol.
