Port Lincoln is a working fishing and grain port on the lower Eyre Peninsula, about 14,000 people, wrapped around Boston Bay. It is the base for great white shark cage diving at the Neptune Islands, for Lincoln National Park 15 km south, and for Coffin Bay oysters 45 minutes west. The town itself is a foreshore strip, a marina and a main street; the reason to come is on the water and along the coast. Summer here is milder than Adelaide, winter is wet and windy, and the shark season runs the cooler months.

You need a car. The airport is 15 km out, Lincoln National Park is 15 km south and Whaler's Way starts 20 km south, and no bus covers them.
