Pori is a 1558 coastal city of about 83,000 people on the Kokemäenjoki river, known for Yyteri beach and the July Pori Jazz festival. The compact centre is walkable in a few hours; the beach and Reposaari need a bus or bike. Most travellers pass through on the way between Tampere and Rauma, or stop for the jazz week.

Pori is a calm small city; the real issues are winter ice, thin late-night bus service to Yyteri and heavy drinking around the Yrjönkatu bars at weekends.
