Pomerode
Half a day from Blumenau: see the half-timbered houses, the zoo and the museum, then return. One night if you want the full German-Brazilian food and beer experience.
Pomerode is the most German town in Brazil, settled by Pomeranian immigrants in the 19th century. Half-timbered houses, a zoo, a museum and German food define it. Most travellers visit as a day trip from Blumenau (1 h by bus) or as a stop on the Itajaí Valley route.
