Peterhead is mainland Britain's most easterly town and still its biggest fishing port, 75 minutes by bus from Aberdeen. The Georgian and Victorian streets are worn but intact, and the coast south of town — Longhaven Cliffs, the Bullers of Buchan, Slains Castle — is the real reason to come. Without a car you see the town; with one you see the coast.

Get around
The centre is walkable in 15 minutes end to end. Local buses run about every 15 min (£2–3 single, £4–5 day ticket, buy on board) and regional services leave from Peterhead Interchange. Taxis are cheap for short hops. A car is the only practical way to reach the cliffs, Cruden Bay and Slains Castle.

- Many kitchens stop serving by 20:30 and some places close early on Sundays and Mondays.
- Sea swimming off Lido Beach is cold year-round — no lifeguards.
