Perth-Andover
One night, not two: use it as a Trans-Canada stop between Fredericton and Edmundston, or a US-border hop from Maine. Two nights only for the August festival.
Perth-Andover is a village of about 1,600 on the Saint John River, right on the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 2), two hours north of Fredericton and five minutes from the Maine border at Fort Fairfield. There is one museum, one golf course that straddles the border, a rail-trail and a handful of festivals. It is a stop, not a destination: one night covers it, unless a festival is on. Spring flooding is a real risk here.

Get around
You need a car. Route 2 (Trans-Canada) runs past the village; Route 190 links it to the US border at Fort Fairfield. Maritime Bus stops at the Perth-Andover Motor Inn on the Edmundston–Moncton route. In the village itself, most places are a short drive apart; the NB Trail is walkable and bikeable on crushed rock.

Scams and watch-outs
- Spring flooding: the river flats flood most years in March–April. Check road and property status before booking a riverside stay in spring.
- The US border crossing at Fort Fairfield is open 24 hours, but bring a passport or visa-waiver document; no card, no crossing.
- Cell coverage is fine in the village but patchy on back roads and the trail.
- Distances are long: Fredericton is 2 h, Edmundston about 1 h 15 min. Do not plan a day trip to either and back on the same afternoon.
Very safe for a village of its size; the real risks are spring flooding on the river flats, winter driving on Route 2 and wildlife on back roads at dusk. Lock the car and use normal city sense after dark.
