Pensacola Beach is an unincorporated community on Santa Rosa Island, a narrow barrier island in West Florida, separate from mainland Pensacola and administered by Escambia County. The Gulf side has white sand and moderate surf; the Sound side is calm and shallow. Two or three nights covers the beaches, Fort Pickens and the boardwalk; a car or bike helps reach the national seashore.

Get around
The island is narrow and long: Via de Luna Drive and Fort Pickens Road run its length. Parking is mostly free but the Casino Beach lot fills on busy weekends. A free beach trolley runs in summer; ECAT bus 61 links Pensacola twice a day for a fare. Bikes work well for the flat island, and the trolley has bike racks.
