Pella
Tabaqat Fahl (طبقة فحل)
Half a day is enough: see the Decapolis ruins, the early mosque and the valley view. Combine with Umm Qais or Ajlun in a day trip from Irbid or Amman.
Pella (Tabaqat Fahl) is a layered archaeological site in the Jordan Valley, 130 km north of Amman and 30 min from Irbid. It was a Decapolis city, an early Christian refuge and the site of a 7th-century battle. The ruins are partly excavated, with Roman columns, a theatre and a mosque marking a Companion's grave. The setting is quiet and rural — no crowds, no souvenir stalls. Most visitors spend 2–3 hours here as part of a northern Jordan loop.
