Naikoon covers the northeast corner of Graham Island in Haida Gwaii: about 69,000 hectares of coastal temperate rainforest, bog, dune and roughly 100 km of sand beach, with Tow Hill and Rose Spit as its landmarks. It is Haida Nation territory, with village sites and food-gathering places inside the boundary. Most visitors see it as a day stop off Highway 16; the long walk along North Beach is a separate, self-supported trip.

- Do not walk or drive on the sand dunes; broken grass roots cause blowouts that bury forest, trails and campsites.
- Rose Spit Ecological Reserve
- Motorised vehicles are prohibited; it protects an endangered plant community and bird habitat.

- Allowed only on North and East Beaches, high on the beach and below the driftwood line; not in campsites, not on trails, not on Tow Hill Road unless registered and plated.

Accessibility
- The Tow Hill trail to the blowhole lookout is universally accessible, including the interpretive signs.
- Two wheelchair-accessible tables at the Tow Hill day-use trailhead.
- Misty Meadows has two accessible outhouses; Agate Beach has one, plus accessible water standpipes.
- Beach walking is possible on firm sand but there are no boardwalks beyond Tow Hill.
Visiting lightly
- Stay off the dunes and the upper beach grass; use established access points only.
- Keep ATVs to the permitted beach zone and below the driftwood line.
- Do not collect cultural material, including old homestead artefacts and shell middens.
- Pack out all rubbish; there is no collection in the backcountry.

What are the best hikes in Naikoon Provincial Park?
The Tow Hill boardwalk to the blowhole lookout is the easiest and is accessible. The North Beach walk is the main long route, roughly 100 km from Tlell to Tow Hill, usually done in 4–6 days with a food drop. Rose Spit is a 2–4 hour walk out and back on sand. Forest and bog routes are rough and wet, with no marked trails.
When is the best time to visit Naikoon Provincial Park?
June to August for the driest, warmest and longest days, with full campground services from 1 Jun to 30 Sep. May brings migrating grey whales and fur seals. October to April is storm season: wet, windy and unserviced, though the campgrounds stay open weather permitting.
Do I need a reservation to camp?
No. Campsites at Agate Beach and Misty Meadows cannot be reserved; you pay on arrival during the service season. In July and August, arrive early in the afternoon for a beach-side site.
Can I drive on the beach?
Only on North and East Beaches, and only high on the beach below the driftwood line. Vehicles are banned from Rose Spit Ecological Reserve, from all trails and from campsites. Beach driving needs a tide table and a plan for getting unstuck.
Is there drinking water in the park?
Yes at the campgrounds and at the Tlell headquarters during the service season. Outside it, and anywhere in the backcountry, treat or filter surface water before drinking.
