Palić is a small resort town on a 7 km lake, 8 km from Subotica and about 180 km from Belgrade. Its draw is the Habsburg-era lakefront: the Water Tower, the Grand Terrace and the villas built around 1900, plus a spa, a zoo and a wine estate. Two nights is the ceiling; most travellers see it as a half-day or one-night add-on to Subotica.

The town is walkable: lakefront, park and hotels sit within about 15 minutes on foot. Bus 6 links Palić with Subotica roughly every 20 minutes and takes about 15 minutes. Taxis wait near the lake and near the supermarket; agree the fare first. A car helps for the winery, Ludaš lake and the border crossings.

Palić is a small, low-crime resort town and is generally safe by day and evening. The real issues are unlit paths around the lake after dark, unmarked restaurant prices and swimming outside marked areas.
