The Pacific West is Panama's most varied mainland region: Chiriquí's highlands (Boquete, Volcán, Cerro Punta) rise to Volcán Barú, while the Gulf of Chiriquí holds Coiba and dozens of islands reached from Boca Chica and Pedregal. Herrera and Los Santos add the Azuero peninsula's beaches and festival towns. Distances are real: David to Boquete is about 45 minutes, David to Boca Chica about 1 hour, David to Pedasí about 3 hours. Sleep in David for transport, Boquete for cool air and hikes, or one coastal base for surf and diving — moving between all three eats your days.
