Pacific Palisades
Treat Pacific Palisades as a half-day stop, not a base: check fire-recovery status, then sleep in Santa Monica and drive or bus in for the Getty Villa and Temescal Canyon.
Pacific Palisades is a residential Westside neighbourhood between Santa Monica and Malibu, reached by Sunset Boulevard or the Pacific Coast Highway. The 2025 Palisades Fire destroyed much of the town centre, so check what has reopened before you build a day around it. The Getty Villa, Temescal Canyon and Will Rogers State Beach are the reasons to come.

Get around
A car is the practical way to reach the Getty Villa and the trailheads. Big Blue Bus 9 runs along Sunset Blvd from Santa Monica through the town centre, and LA Metro bus 2 follows Sunset to PCH then loops back on Temescal Canyon Blvd. Walking works downtown and along the beach; the east entrance on Sunset Blvd has no marked footway for at least 180 m.

- The Eames House needs a reservation at least 48 hours ahead and has no public car park.
A residential area; the real risks are wildfire season, fast traffic on Sunset Blvd and PCH, and heat on exposed trails. Check fire status, air quality and any evacuation or access notices before you go.
