Osasco
Skip as a base: Osasco is a business and industrial suburb of São Paulo with little for visitors. Stay only if work brings you, or day-trip 30 min for the market and parks.
Osasco is a city of about 650,000 people fully joined to São Paulo's west side, built on industry and a commuter rail line. It has a busy centre, a municipal market, a few parks and a theatre, but almost nothing that justifies a trip of its own. Most travellers pass through on the Line 8 train or use it as a cheaper bed near São Paulo's western districts.

Line 8/Diamante (CPTM) runs from São Paulo's Júlio Prestes and Barra Funda through Osasco to Itapevi; Line 9/Esmeralda links the area to Santo Amaro and Grajaú. City buses use the Largo de Osasco and Amador Aguiar terminals. Taxis and ride-hailing are cheap by US standards; walking is fine in the centre by day but distances between neighbourhoods are long.

- Summer downpours (Dec–Mar) flood low streets near the Tietê quickly.
