Give Orem one night, not a trip: base in Provo or Salt Lake City and use it for Provo Canyon, Timpanogos Cave and the SCERA shows.
Orem is a Utah Valley suburb between Provo and the mouth of Provo Canyon, about 45 minutes south of Salt Lake City by car or FrontRunner. Almost nothing here is a destination on its own: the draw is canyon access, a cave hike, cheap chain hotels and two small free museums. One night is enough, and only if you are driving or riding the commuter rail.

Get around
A car is the practical answer: I-15 runs the length of the valley and exits at 800 North, Center Street and University Parkway. UTA buses exist but run infrequently. FrontRunner commuter rail stops at Orem Central (900 South 1350 West) and links Provo to the south and Salt Lake City and Ogden to the north.
