Ola is a small coastal town at the mouth of the Ola River, 30 km east of Magadan. It was the landing site of the 1928 geological expedition that led to the founding of Magadan. Today it has a local museum and a rock formation called the Three Monks. Most travellers use it as a short side trip from Magadan, not a base.
