Oachira
Oachira is a half-day stop for the Parabrahma Temple and Amritapuri ashram, best as a detour between Kollam and Alappuzha. One night only if you join the ashram.
Oachira is a small coastal town in Kerala, 100 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, known for the Parabrahma Temple (a rare open-air temple with no idol) and the Amritapuri ashram of Mata Amritanandamayi. Most travellers pass through on the NH-66 highway. The town has a railway station for regional trains; express trains stop at nearby Kayamkulam. The main draw is the Kettukazhcha festival in March–April, when giant chariots are pulled through the streets. Outside festival season, Oachira is quiet and a short visit suffices.
