Nusa Lembongan is an 8 km² island 30–45 minutes by fast boat from Sanur, with no traffic, three beach clusters and water clear enough to snorkel straight off the sand. It suits travellers who want two or three slow days between Bali and Nusa Penida, not a sightseeing checklist.

Get around
Walk the coastal paths (most routes under 2 h); rent a bicycle (Rp 20,000–40,000/day) or scooter (Rp 75,000–150,000/day) for the hills. Cars are effectively banned, so local transport is a pick-up truck (Rp 100,000–150,000 per trip) or a scooter taxi (from Rp 70,000). A loop of the island takes about 40 min.

Scams and watch-outs
- Devil's Tear: stay behind the ropes. People have died here.
- Dream Beach rips are strong, especially at the eastern end; only strong swimmers.
- Fast boats often mean wading to your knees at boarding and landing.
- Narrow, hilly roads with little maintenance and blind corners — scooter injuries are the main tourist risk.
- Sandy Bay cave is only open at low tide; do not get cut off.
Low crime, high water risk: the real dangers are scooter crashes on hilly roads, rip currents at Dream Beach and people stepping past the ropes at Devil's Tear. Boat standards vary widely — pick an operator with life jackets and a fixed schedule.
