Novo Sancti Petri
Come for 3–5 nights of beach and golf, not sightseeing: a car or bus is needed for Cádiz, Jerez and the white towns. Most hotels shut Nov–Feb.
Novo Sancti Petri is the hotel strip at the southern end of La Barrosa beach, in Chiclana de la Frontera on the Costa de la Luz. It was built from the late 1980s as a low-rise resort — nothing over three storeys — and now holds the largest number of beds on this coast. There is no old town here: the draw is a long sandy beach, golf, sports and easy day trips to Cádiz, Jerez and the white towns. Most hotels close from November to February, so plan around a summer or shoulder-season stay.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Two kisses on the cheek (right then left) between friends and when introduced socially; handshake in business; avoid: Being stiff — Spaniards stand close and touch arms
- Meal times: Late lunch and dinner; long sobremesa (chat after eating); avoid: Rushing to leave or asking for the bill with the last bite
- Noise: Join in the lively conversation; avoid: Reading loud voices as anger
- Siesta hours: Keep noise down in residential buildings 15:00–17:00 and after 23:00; avoid: Phone calls to people at lunch time
- Dress: Smart casual in cities; locals rarely wear shorts in Madrid in town; avoid: Swimwear or bare torsos away from the beach
- Regional pride: Ask about local dishes and festivals; avoid: Assuming Catalan or Basque are dialects of Spanish
Scams and watch-outs
- Most hotels and many bars close from November to February; check opening dates before booking a winter trip.
- The tourist information office is seasonal — outside the main season use the main office in Chiclana.
- The A48 exit is signed for La Barrosa beach, not for Novo Sancti Petri; watch for the KM 10 exit.
- In winter most bars shut by 22:00 or do not open at all.
- The nearest long-distance train station is San Fernando; no long-distance trains stop in Chiclana.
A calm, low-rise resort area; the main risks are seasonal closures, strong Atlantic currents on La Barrosa and sun exposure. Use 112 for emergencies.
