Nova Petrópolis
Half a day is enough for the town centre; use it as a lunch stop or overnight base between Porto Alegre and Gramado/Canela.
Nova Petrópolis is a small German-heritage town in the Serra Gaúcha, 98 km from Porto Alegre. Its main draw is the Immigrant Village (Aldeia do Imigrante) with half-timbered houses and a history museum, plus a hedge maze in the plaza. Most visitors pass through on the way to Gramado or Canela, but a single night lets you try the local cuisine and walk the quiet streets.
