Norvalspont
Skip Norvalspont unless you need a bed near the Gariep Dam or have a specific interest in Anglo-Boer War concentration camp history. One night is enough.
Norvalspont is a tiny Free State settlement on the Orange River, best known for its 1901–1902 British concentration camp and as a stopover for travellers crossing the Gariep Dam. The town has a historic hotel, a game lodge and river access, but no major sights that justify a dedicated trip. Most visitors use it as a cheap overnight en route between Johannesburg and the Eastern Cape or Cape Town.
