Northern Mexico is desert, sierra and modern industrial cities, not colonial plazas or Caribbean beaches. It is the country's largest and least-visited region, several times the size of Spain. Come for Copper Canyon and the Chepe railway, for Monterrey's food and museums, for wine in Coahuila and sotol in Chihuahua. Come only if you have 4+ nights and accept long internal distances: the north rewards a car or a flight, not a rushed bus loop.
