North Walsham
Use North Walsham as a 1-night rail base for the north Norfolk coast, not a sightseeing stop: the town itself fills half a day.
North Walsham is a small market town on the Bittern Line between Norwich and the coast, 25 min from Norwich and about 20 min from Cromer. Its draw is position: the coast, the Broads and Bacton Woods are all within a short drive, and the town has a ruined church tower, a motorcycle museum and cheap beds. Most travellers sleep here one night, or use it as a cheaper base than Cromer in summer.
