North Reading
North Reading, Massachusetts
Skip as a base: North Reading is a half-day stop for Harold Parker State Forest and Ipswich River Park. Sleep in Reading or Andover and drive in.
North Reading is a 15,000-person town in the southern Merrimack Valley, 25 km north of Boston off Interstate 93. It has no hotel district and no rail station of its own: the MBTA Haverhill Line stops at Reading and Andover, and you finish the trip by car or rideshare. Come for the 3,000-acre Harold Parker State Forest, the town recreation park, and a handful of Main Street restaurants, then move on.
