North Hollywood
NoHo
Give North Hollywood one night, or a half-day for the NoHo Arts District: the Metro B Line to Hollywood is about 15 min, so it works as a cheaper base.
North Hollywood is a district of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley, not part of Hollywood itself, and sits several miles north of it. Its draw is the walkable NoHo Arts District with small theatres, plus a Metro B Line station that reaches Universal City in one stop and Hollywood in about 15 minutes. Most visitors use it as a bed base or an evening out, not a full sightseeing day.

Get around
The NoHo Arts District is walkable. Metro B Line (subway) runs from North Hollywood station south to Universal City, Hollywood and Downtown LA; the G Line busway runs west across the Valley. Buses fill the gaps. A car helps for anything outside the district; parking is easier here than in Hollywood.
See and do

- Late-night taco trucks on Vineland

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake and 'hi, how are you?' — reply 'good, thanks'; avoid: Treating the question as a real health enquiry
- Restaurants: Tip 18–22% and wait for the check; avoid: Leaving without tipping
- Personal space: Keep an arm's length in queues; avoid: Standing close to strangers
- Politics and religion: Listen more than you speak; avoid: Opening with hot-button topics
- Smoking: Smoke only in marked areas; avoid: Smoking near doors or in parks where banned
Scams and watch-outs
- Distances in LA are large: check drive times before booking anything across the Valley.
- Some blocks away from the Arts District are poorly lit at night; stick to Lankershim and Magnolia.
- Summer valley heat: July–September highs often pass 35 °C.
- Parking rules and street sweeping are enforced; read signs before leaving a car.
North Hollywood is a normal LA district: the Arts District is fine on foot in the evening, but blocks north of it and around the station are less comfortable late at night. Keep to lit streets, do not leave anything visible in a car, and use rideshare after midnight.
