Noida is a planned satellite city of Delhi across the Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh, built around offices, malls and wide roads rather than monuments. Almost everything a visitor wants — Old Delhi, the Taj, the airports — sits in Delhi or beyond, so Noida works as a cheaper, quieter bed with metro access, not as a destination. Come for the Okhla Bird Sanctuary, the free Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and the malls, then move on.

Get around
Noida is car-oriented. The Delhi Metro Blue Line runs down the middle (Sector 15, 16, 18, Botanical Garden, City Centre) and the Magenta Line links Botanical Garden to Delhi and Terminal 1. The Noida Metro Aqua Line runs from Botanical Garden to Greater Noida. Autos and cycle rickshaws cover short hops; Uber and Ola work well and are cheap. Distances between sectors are long — check the metro before walking.

- Greeting: Namaste (palms together) or a handshake between men; wait for a woman to offer her hand; avoid: Hugging or kissing strangers
- Hands and feet: Give and eat with the right hand; apologise if your foot touches someone; avoid: Pointing feet at people or shrines; touching books or food with your feet

Scams and watch-outs
- Air quality turns hazardous from late October to December; anyone with asthma should plan around it.
- Summer heat from May to June regularly passes 40 °C; do outdoor sights before 10:00.
- Black-plated commercial and rented cars need the Uttar Pradesh road tax paid before using the DND Flyway — there is no counter at the bridge.
- Metro and mall security checks mean queues at peak hours; carry ID.
- Some Sector 18 bars have no posted prices — ask the total before ordering.
Low street crime by NCR standards and well-lit roads, but the real risks are traffic, air quality and heat. Women travelling alone report stares more than threats; use app cabs at night rather than walking empty sectors.
