Vieux Nice is the densest: narrow lanes off Cours Saleya fill with wine bars and small music venues from about 19:00. Getting there
The tram is the easiest way back at night. Line 1 serves Vieux Nice and Place Masséna, line 2 links the airport, Jean Médecin and the port. Services thin out after midnight but run until roughly 01:30 on Friday and Saturday (check). A single ticket is about €1.70 (2026 estimate); buy at the machine before boarding.
Taxis are scarce at closing time. Book ahead or use the official taxi rank at Place Masséna or the port. Ride-hailing apps work but surge after 02:00. Walking between Vieux Nice, Masséna and the port is 10–25 minutes on lit streets.
Practical tips
Keep to the main lanes in Vieux Nice after midnight; the smaller alleys are poorly lit. Watch bags in crowded bars and on the Promenade. Never leave a drink unattended, and buy your own drinks rather than accepting one from a stranger.
Dress is smart casual at clubs; beachwear and flip-flops can get you turned away. Many places are cashless now, but carry a card and a little cash. If you are out late, agree a meeting point with your group before the phone batteries die.
