Neyveli
Skip Neyveli unless you have business at the lignite mines. The afforestation park and lake are the only draw, but wildlife viewing has been suspended for years — check locally if the park is open before planning a stop.
Neyveli is a company township built around the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, not a tourist town. Its main draw is a 25 km² afforestation zone with a lake, boating and seasonal birds. Most travellers pass through on the Chennai–Thanjavur highway without stopping.
