Newry is a 28,000-person town on the Dublin–Belfast corridor, five miles north of the Republic of Ireland border. It has a cathedral, a canal towpath and a museum in a rediscovered castle, but its real use is as a cheap, walkable break on the Enterprise train line. The centre is walkable in 15 minutes end to end. Buses and trains reach Belfast, Dublin and Dundalk; Bus Éireann 160 links Newry, Killeen and Dundalk every couple of hours, about 35 min. Taxis and Uber cover the outskirts. National Cycleway 9 runs Belfast–Newry; Route 91 branches west to Armagh.
