New Brunswick is a Rutgers University city on the Northeast Corridor, about an hour by NJ Transit from New York Penn Station and roughly the same from Philadelphia with a Trenton change. Downtown is walkable: station to George Street is about 5–10 min on foot. NJ Transit buses run along George Street and Route 27; Rutgers campus buses are open to the public.
