Get around
Downtown is compact and walkable; the streets climb the hillside away from the lake, so expect short uphill walks. BC Transit West Kootenay runs local and regional buses Monday to Saturday, including Route 10 to Balfour (about 55 min) and Route 99 to Castlegar (about 40 min). A rental car or taxi is needed for Whitewater, Kokanee Glacier and most trailheads. Glacier Cabs serves the city.
