Neepawa
Give Neepawa half a day: the museum, the Laurence house and the lily fields. Sleep in Brandon or Winnipeg, not here.
Neepawa is a farm-service town of about 4,600 people on the Manitoba Escarpment, 45 minutes northeast of Brandon and two hours northwest of Winnipeg on the Yellowhead Highway. It calls itself the lily capital of the world, and the lily fields in mid-July are the one reason to plan a stop. Otherwise it is a museum, a writer's house and a walkable main street.

Get around
The town centre is walkable in 15–20 minutes end to end. The lily fields, the golf course and the winter park are outside town and need a car; there is no local transit.

- Winter driving on PTH 16 and PTH 5: snow, ice and closed sections are normal from November.
A quiet farm town; the real risks are winter driving on PTH 16 and PTH 5, long gaps between services, and wildlife on the road at dusk.
