Nagaon
নগাঁও
Half a day is enough for the Maha Mrityunjay Temple and the bazaars; use Nagaon as a lunch stop or a base for Kaziranga National Park, not a destination.
Nagaon is Assam's fifth-largest city, 120 km east of Guwahati. Its main draw is the world's tallest Shiva linga at Maha Mrityunjay Temple, 18 km out. The town itself has busy markets and a few restaurants. Most travellers pass through on the way to Kaziranga National Park (72 km) or Bordua (18 km).
