Mystic is a small Connecticut village split between Groton and Stonington, about halfway between New York and Boston on the Amtrak Northeast Corridor. Two paid attractions — Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium — plus a compact downtown on the Mystic River carry a full day. Get around
A car is the easiest way: I-95 exit 90 (Route 27) serves the attractions, exit 89 downtown. Downtown itself is walkable in 15 minutes end to end. Amtrak's Mystic station (MYS) is on Route 1, about a 10-minute walk from the drawbridge. Local buses are limited — check schedules before relying on them.
