Mulberry is a small phosphate-mining town of about 3,000 people at the junction of State Road 60 and State Road 37 in Polk County, Florida. It has one real sight — the free Mulberry Phosphate Museum, where you dig for fossils and sharks' teeth — plus river trails and a skydive field. Lodging is one motel. Most travellers see it as a half-day stop between Tampa and Lakeland, or a cheap bed while working the wider Polk County loop.

Get around
You need a car. S.R. 60 runs east–west (Tampa/Brandon to Bartow and Lake Wales) and S.R. 37 runs north–south (to Lakeland as South Florida Ave., and south toward the phosphate country).
