Mto Wa Mbu
Skip as a destination: it's a 15-minute walk-through town best used as a lunch stop or overnight rest after Ngorongoro Crater, not a place to spend a day.
Mto Wa Mbu ("River of Mosquitoes") is a small settlement in Northeast Tanzania, 15 minutes' walk across, with no air or rail links. Its main draw is proximity to Ngorongoro Crater and the northern safari circuit. Most travellers pass through for a meal, a beer, or a single night's rest after a crater descent. There is no sightseeing in town beyond craft stalls selling carved African Blackwood souvenirs.
