Mount Carmel Junction is a crossroads, not a town: US-89 meets the Zion–Mount Carmel Highway (UT-9) about 12 mi east of Zion National Park's east entrance. There is no public transport and almost nothing to see in the junction itself. It earns its place as a bed base for Zion's quieter east side, for the slot canyons and White Cliffs of Grand Staircase–Escalante, and as a break on the Zion–Bryce–Grand Canyon loop. Come with a car, come with a plan, and treat the junction as a place to sleep and eat between park days.
