Mougins is a hill village above Cannes with a walled old centre, a classical-art museum and a restaurant row that made its name in the 20th century. It is small: two to three hours covers the village. Most travellers come for a meal or an afternoon from Cannes, Antibes or Grasse, and stay only if they want forest quiet and have a car.

Get around
The old village is pedestrian and takes 20 minutes to cross. Everything else — the pond, the museums outside the walls, the golf courses — is spread over hills and needs a car, taxi or bike. Local buses (Lignes 600, 630, 650) link Cannes, Grasse, Mouans-Sartoux and Valbonne with a flat fare of about €1 per journey (check timetables); only the 650 climbs to the village itself, and it is infrequent.
