Morris
Morris, Manitoba
Give Morris half a day on the Highway 75 run between Winnipeg and the US border: the museum in summer, the stampede in late July, otherwise skip.
Morris is a town of about 1,900 people on Highway 75, halfway between Winnipeg and the Emerson border crossing, about 50 minutes by car from Winnipeg. There is one museum, one rodeo weekend and a golf course. It works as a leg-stretch or an overnight if you are driving to Grand Forks, not as a destination in itself.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake; 'Bonjour' first in Québec; avoid: Assuming everyone speaks English
- Queues: Line up and wait your turn; avoid: Pushing in
- Apologising: 'Sorry' is politeness, not admission of fault; avoid: Loud confrontation
- Canada vs US: Treat Canada as its own country; avoid: Calling Canadians American
- Indigenous culture: Buy from Indigenous-owned businesses and ask before photos at ceremonies; avoid: Wearing headdresses as costume
Scams and watch-outs
- Highway 75 carries fast truck traffic: cross at marked intersections, not mid-block.
- Winter runs to −25 °C and lower with wind chill; block heaters and remote starts are normal here.
- The museum is open Jun 1–Aug 31 only; outside those dates there is little to see.
- Cell coverage is fine in town but patchy on the back roads toward the Pembina River.
Low crime, and the real risks are the highway and the cold: deer and trucks on Highway 75 at dusk, and winter wind chill that closes schools. 911 works everywhere.
