Montevarchi is a market town on the Arno in the Valdarno, on the Florence–Rome railway about an hour from Florence. Its oval medieval centre is small and walkable, and the town is known for a Thursday market and the Prada outlet at Levanella. Most travellers use it as a rail stop between Florence and Arezzo, or as a base for the countryside villas in the hills above.
