Misato, Akita
美郷町
Skip unless you are in Akita for the Takeuchi Festival (Feb 15) or the lavender fields (mid-Jun to early Jul). Otherwise, a half-day stop on a drive between Yokote and Kakunodate.
Misato is a small agricultural town in southeastern Akita, known for two seasonal events: the Takeuchi Festival, where participants hit each other with bamboo poles, and the Misato Lavender Fields, with 20,000 plants including a rare white variety. Outside those windows, there is little reason to stop.
