Minganie is a 300 km strip of Gulf of St. Lawrence coast in eastern Quebec, reached by Route 138 or by plane to Havre-Saint-Pierre. The reason to come is the Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve: limestone monoliths, seabird islands and boat landings that sell out in summer. Sleep in Havre-Saint-Pierre for the boats, in Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan for a quieter base, and treat the villages east of Havre-Saint-Pierre as a road trip, not a day trip.

Short summer from late June to early September, with sea fog and rain any week; winter is long, snowy and windy. Boat trips to the archipelago run roughly June to early October, weather permitting.

July and August are the only reliably warm months, and also the busiest for archipelago boats and beds. Late June and early September are quieter but colder and wetter.
