Millbrae
Use Millbrae as an airport-night base, not a sightseeing stop: 1 night before or after an SFO flight, or a half-day transfer between BART and Caltrain.
Millbrae is a small Peninsula city whose main value is transit: it has the southernmost BART station on the Peninsula, a Caltrain stop on the same platform complex, and SFO one BART stop away. Sights are thin — a bayfront park under the flight path, two short trails, a weekend train museum. Stay here for a cheap bed near the airport, or pass through on a BART–Caltrain connection.
