Militello in Val di Catania

Militello in Val di Catania is one of the eight UNESCO-listed Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto, in the Iblei foothills about 40 km from Catania. It is a small working town of roughly 7,300 people with a dense cluster of 17th- and 18th-century churches, not a resort. Most travellers see it as a half-day between Catania and Caltagirone, or as a quiet overnight if they want the baroque towns without the crowds of Noto and Ragusa.

Get around
The historic centre is small and walkable in 15–20 minutes end to end; expect steep lanes and stairs between the lower town and the upper churches.
