Milan is a small Erie County village of about 1,450 people, 12 mi (19 km) south of Sandusky off US-250. It is the birthplace of Thomas Edison and a former Lake Erie grain port and shipbuilding town. Two museums, a walkable square of antique shops and two annual festivals are the whole visit; most travellers see it in three to four hours on the way between Sandusky and Huron, or sleep in the US-250 motel strip.

Walk. The village is flat and the museums, square and restaurants sit within about 10 minutes on foot. There is no public transport and no boat traffic; a car is needed to reach Milan and to continue along the Erie shore.
