Middleburg is a small Loudoun County town on US-50, about an hour west of Washington, D.C., known as Virginia horse country. The historic core is a few blocks of shops, inns and restaurants; the surrounding estates, wineries and equestrian venues are spread out along the highway and need a car. Most visitors come for a single night, a long lunch, or as a stop between D.C. and the Shenandoah Valley.

Get around
The village core is walkable in 10–15 minutes end to end. Everything outside it — wineries, farms, the Salamander resort, Goodstone — is on US-50 or side roads with no bus service, so plan on a car. Parking on Washington Street is free but limited on weekends.
