Mesquita
Skip Mesquita unless you have family or business there; it's a commuter suburb with no tourist draw. A half-day is enough to see the APA Gericinó-Mendanha and the stadium.
Mesquita is the newest municipality in Baixada Fluminense, split from Nova Iguaçu in 1999. It's a residential and industrial corridor between Nova Iguaçu and Rio de Janeiro, with a few green areas and a football stadium. Most travellers pass through on the train or bus without stopping.
